The Subtheory single review

Track Title: AGITA

Oxford based electronic band The Subtheory are back in with a new single to build off the momentum they have gained with singles ‘Impact’ and ‘Fader’ from last year, the new track ‘AGITA’ has been promised as a continuation of the heavier beats and raw vocal display with the bands trying to extend the limits they have already reached with their sound.

But first we can’t ignore the origins of the word of the new track AGITA, it’s a Sicilian/Neapolitan slang term for stress induced indigestion usually caused by someone interfering in other people’s business, so brace yourself for a complicated situation you will find yourself in and hope you intrude with on the lyrical person's life whilst enjoying the sound without being noticed.

Oh we loved the opening soundscape of ‘AGITA’. You have a sense of floating whilst you watch rain fall around you, the rhythm has a beautiful ease about it to a degree that you find yourself mentally following the sound with your headphones. When the added layer of the soft tones of the vocals enticing you to lean forward and focus more on the lyrics and their meaning, but the beats draw you back to appreciate the sound around the words.

I can’t tell you enough how much we here at Off the Hook Music enjoyed this new single from The Subtheory, what a way to start the year!

4.5 Hooks out of 5
