SENECA Single Review

Track Title: Exhale, Sigher

Last year it was hard not to be impressed with SENCA’s debut single, The Ventriloquist, for us at Off the Hook Music it was a raw and fresh display that showed real intent from the Devon band. So we were very intrigued to find out what this newest single would tell us about the progression of the band.

When you show so much promise from your first track it is massively important to keep that momentum and excitement going, SENECA explains that ‘Exhale, Sigher’ is a multifaceted track that intends to subvert expectation and tread some new ground for the band. Which made  the prospect of the track even more interesting for us.

Instantly a flair is shot up into the sky and burns as a shining light on the vocal performance which vividly explains the hope and despair of the dark struggling nature of the content and meaning of the track. This is a track which depicts the experience of turning victim to your own cruel imagination and then to teach yourself to accept what terrifies us deep down in our souls, this is done with a moody beat set from the drumming sections and then the teaching factor coming from the spiky guitar notes that give the listeners a grain of hope throughout the song.

All in all, SENECA had a lot to live up to after ‘The Ventriloquist’ and they have maintained that hope that they are onto something good, I’m more than looking forward to the next instalment, keep up the good work lads!
