This debut album from Danish band Me & Munich is meant to be a continuation of their previous EP ‘Knives Of The Sun’, but for us this is an evolution of the previous direction seen from Me & Munich.
The term gaslighting addresses how we as people are capable of manipulation and planting seeds of doubt into other people's minds, Me & Munich clearly draw pleasure within their music when exploring the fragility of a humans mind within this collection of songs.
First track ‘Radical’, what an opening to an album a haunting beginning with an eerie feel within the track. This could easily be the theme music for a spy film, it builds so strongly into a robust rock anthem with big guitar riffs ripping through everything.
‘Peace of my mind’ and ‘Rainbow Attack’ has a cleaner fresh flow to them from the other tracks on the album, they both have a manner of catchy indie rock spread all over them and you can’t help but mention the wonderful mid eighth with ‘Rainbow Attack’ because this layer allows the song to got out with a massive bang.
Midway through the album ‘The worst in me’ appears out of nowhere, surrounded by heavy rock records either side of it on the album. It is raw, honest, and provides a fantastic contrast within this collection of records.
It’s hard not to daydream of going to a live gig of Me & Munich when listening to ‘Ambient Abuse’ and ‘Gaslighting Pleasure’, the band has the promise that they potentially could sound as amazing with their blazing guitar riffs as bands like Foo Fighters do when witnessed in the flesh.
At the end of the album you get the sense that you’ve come full circle from the first track, because like ‘Radical’, ‘Right Shoulder Devil’ has a haunting beginning that builds up to a momentous thundering sound of a track.
Me & Munich have so much energy and intensity to their sound, you will definitely have the confidence to recommend this album to friends and family.
