Fast rising songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, James Humphrys, has followed his two acclaimed single releases ‘Colour’ and ‘All the Same’, with this four track EP which was created off the coast of Alaska. Not just content filling his time working on a cruise ship, James has been very busy before a forced break caused by the lockdown restrictions by playing venues ranging from Bristol’s Thekla to the Royal Albert Hall, where James supported bands like San Cisco, Shortstraw and Cassia.
The first track on the EP,’ All the Same’ one of the early releases of this piece of work, leaves a complex portrait of intertwining layers with a quality tempo change mid-way within the song, ‘All the Same’ has an easy flowing method running right through providing a very interesting beginning.
‘Colour’ has a smooth swag at the core of the record with a massive amount of self confidence pouring out of the it dancefloor friendly vibes, the perfect backdrop for the vocals to deliver the catchy lyrics.
‘I’m not your man’ shows James’s ability to change direction within his creation, taking the easier way of life and showing down the tempo and allowing the lyrics to take centre stage. Continuing the theme from ‘I’m not your man’, the last track ‘Tongue Tied’ is definitely the standout grab your attention track within this record a great way to pull the curtain to end the show.
