Hellblind EP Review

Track Title: 'A Plague On All Your Houses'

Mark Clayden (Pitchshifter) and Paul Fletcher (Romeo Must Die) combined their forces and formed Hellblind in 2021 due to their mutual frustrations with lockdowns and cancelled shows with the desire to conjure up the heaviest music either had ever written. They are both right in their actions, the only way to make something positive and worthwhile from frustration is art that explains your way through it. From that proactive artist reaction and with the help of Revenger Records via Cargo Records, a new EP 'A Plague On All Your Houses' was released on the 23rd of March.

The first track on the EP is ‘Evil Eye’ like a roaring, strong, and heavy engine letting rip for the first time, this track provides an instant invite of rough and ready vocals and beats intertwined with intelligent guitar riffs. A Plague On All Your Houses has definitely started with an ear grabbing statement.

‘If You’re Going Through Hell’ has an added tenacity as the lyrics within this track demands to be listened to and digested for the meaning, the layers of texture allow the words to embed within your mind and take on a life of its own.  Moving into the middle part of the EP you have the lead single of this collection of tracks, ‘A Plague on all your houses’ no wonder this song was selected as the stand out example of what to expect, its shattering battering ram of a metal record and growling attack of your senses.

For us at Off the Hook Music, ‘Soul Assassin’ the final song on the EP is the most polished and complex in equal measures. This is an EP which metal fans will find it easy to get behind, so don’t wait a moment check it out and see what you make of it!
