Freyja emerged onto the musical scene during 2021 with her debut single ‘Lungs’, but you might already know Freyja from her compositions as they have been performed by members of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Her newest single ‘Requiem’ is an exploration of folktronica and synthpop which shines a light on her experience of redefining her religious beliefs, like the subject matter of the track and lyrics this is a complex record with a number of changing texture formats and has a free flowing elegance about the sound.
Freyja has a real talent for songwriting and draws a visual form with her lyrics and they’re sung to such smoothness the words wash over you, the feeling and meaning of the words are just absorbed all at the same time. Freyja explains, “I found listening to or playing music to be a comfort and writing music a form of therapy for me to help me understand what I was going through.” If you're in a place where you need that sense of support and understanding then this is the track for you as this is a bit of a musical therapy for everyone.
