Car Boot Sale Single Review

Track Title: Fortune Teller

Car Boot Sale have been a busy band in 2019, they have spent their time writing new music and gathering a modest amount of fans that have gravitated towards their psychedelic Indie rock sound. One of the most impressive people that have jumped on the Car Boot Sale wagon is BBC Radio’s Huw Stephens who has showcased the band on his show ‘The Social program’.

For this single, ‘Fortune Teller’ the band enlisted the help of Theo Verney to mix the record who has previously worked with bands like Fur and Fake Laugh. On the hottest day of the year in 2019 this song was recorded above an East London Pub, did the heat get to the lad’s head when they made this track or have they lit a flame in their musical sound.

At the start the groovy content a washes over you with a hint of happiness, the tone is relaxed and elicits a floating feeling that allows the listener to bounce along the record. The whole song has a deceptively simple form in construction, it fits so well together and the level changes around the catchy chorus makes ‘Fortune Teller’ a very interesting record from start to finish.

You can understand why Car Boot Sale has gathered their followers and if this track is anything to go by, they will be gathering even more in 2020.
